Rising Motorcycle Accidents raise safety concerns as Survivors struggle to recover

Motorcycle accidents are on the rise, leaving many survivors facing long painful recoveries and fonancial struggles.
"Poor roads conditions, reckless driving and lack of protective gear are key contributors to these crashes". Said Experts.
Recent cases, such as that of Jabesi kadzamila and Leah Maulidi,highlight the devastating effects of such accidents.
Jabesi kadzamila,a survivor attributed that" i was on my way to attend a funeral at my village in lilongwe Traditional authority Mazengera when i was involved in a motorcycle accident, it happened because the motorcycle had no brakes and it collided with a minibus at kawale". Kadzamila said.
" I lost the money i was supposed to help with the funeral arrangements and the medical bills have been overwhelming ".he said.
" Iam in the hospital for two weeks and i will still be here because, even after surgery , i still struggle to walk". He said.
Leah Maulidi, an entrepreneur sustained broken arms and a head tuama.
" I was coming from my business place that's where i met my face because of the reckless driving of a motorcycle driver i was taxing . " Said Maulidi.
" The recovery process has been painful both pysically and emotionally. " She said.
" I have anxiety everytime i get on a bike no. " She said
Traffic authorities cite reckless riding , lack of proper safety training , and failure to wear helmets as major concerns .
" Many motorcyclists do not follow traffic rules and some even ride without helmets. "Said Road Safety officer Peter Banda.
" This greatly increases the risk of injuries or death.
To reduce accidents , experts remain recommend stricter enforcement of traffic laws , improved road infrastructure, and more awareness campaigns on safe riding practices
"Motorcyclists should always wear helmets , follow speed limits , and avoid dangerous maneuvers." He said.
Despite the risks , motorcycles remain a popular mode of transport due to afford ability and convenience. Survivors like kadzamila and Maulidi hope that more can be done to ensure safer roads for all.
