A row has erupted between Silver Strikers midfielder Uchizi Vunga and head coach Peter Mgangila after the player was repotedly left out of various matches drspite being named mid-season's best player, sources confirmed on Friday in Lilongwe.
According to reports from Akantolola sports , a platform owned by Gabriel Akantolola Moyo who also acts as Vunga's manager , the ongoing tensions stem from lack of understanding between the player and the Coach.
Moyo alleged that coach Mgangila has sidelined the talented midfielder from multiple key games, supposedly without justification.
"This issue is not new. The player has always had misunderstandings with head coaches , it's just unfortunate that this is resurfacing now with coach Mgangila." Said Moyo in an interview posted onhis YouTube sports channel .
Moyo highlighted that Vunga feels sidelined, he is not given the chance he deserves despite his consistent performance.
However, Silver Strikers official statement , insiders suggest that the technical panel, who asked not to be named, stated.
" There is tension in the dressing room . When a top player isn't being played and no one explains why, it raises eyebrows." Said Silver Strikers official who asked for anonymity.
This is not the first time Vunga has had run-ins with coaching staff. During Peter De Jong's tenure as head coach of Silver Strikers, similar issues were reportedly observed.
Sports analyst and former Flames player Ernest Mtawali weighed in on the matter.
" This is a classic case of both the player and the Coach need to find a common ground for the good of the team."Mtawali said.
As Silver Strikers prepare for the next round of matches, all eyes are on the clubs management to resolve the impasse between Vunga and Mgangila with fan expectations high and tensions simmering, the team must act swiftly to ensure internal harmony and maintain it's edge.
